BIOS

BIOS Partners

BIOS is a data management system designed to explore the attributes and spatial distribution of biological organisms and systems studied by the Department of Fish and Game and Partner Organizations. Data in BIOS comes from many sources and time periods (both current and historical), including large and long-term studies involving cooperative efforts between the Department and other government agencies and non-governmental organizations. Our Partner Organizations are working with us to provide biological and spatial data for BIOS. We welcome this information and know there is more to be shared.

The role of BIOS Cooperators in making this program a success is evident when looking at the data that has been shared through BIOS. We would like to thank these partners for their help. We look forward to enhancing our working relationship with them and hope to include more partners in the future. Our Partner Organizations are:

Partner Organizations who have provided or are currently working to provide data layers to BIOS:
  • U.S. Geological Survey
  • Bureau of Land Management
  • U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
  • California Coastal Conservancy
Partners who have supported the development of BIOS and its ArcIMS data viewer:
  • National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA - Fisheries)
  • U.S. Geological Survey - National Biological Information Infrastructure (NBII)
  • U.S. Geological Survey - Western Ecological Research Center (WERC)
  • Department of Fish and Game - Information Technology Branch
  • Department of Fish and Game - Fisheries Restoration Grant Program
  • Department of Fish and Game - Resource Assessment Program
  • Department of Fish and Game - CalFed
  • Salton Sea Restoration Program

Although we must restrict access to BIOS due to Internet limitations, individuals in agencies who are Partner Organizations may become an Authorized Partner, upon request. An Authorized Partner has access to the BIOS data through a password-protected BIOS Data Viewer.
